Jar Salad Recipes you are Going to Love

Glass jars are perfect for preserving leafy greens. They are more hygienic than most recipients and easy to carry around. The secret to a perfect jar salad is in the order the ingredients are layered. Dressing goes first and leaves goes last, so they don’t get soggy.

We’ve selected three delicious recipes for you to try and make your lunch break a lot healthier.

Caprese Salad


½ cup of fresh basil

¼ cup of pine nuts

1 garlic clove

2 tsp. of parmesan cheese freshly grated

¼ cup of olive oil

1 ice cube

½ cup of wholegrain al dente cooked fusilli pasta

8 cherry tomatoes

4 small mozzarella pearls

1 cup of rocket salad leaves

1 tsp. of balsamic vinegar

Salt and pepper


Put is a blender: basil leaves, pine nuts, garlic clove, parmesan, olive oil and ice until it gets an oozy consistency. Season the pesto to taste with salt and pepper.

Layer the jar in this order: pesto, pasta, cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, and rocket salad.

To serve just mix all the ingredients together by shaking the jar. Simple :)

Chicken and Vegetables Salad


1 small chicken breast

½ tsp. of paprika


1 garlic clove

½ aubergine cut in cubes

1 small courgette cut in cubes

½ purple onion

2 tsp. of olive oil

2 tsp. of cooked chickpeas

Lettuce salad

4 Radishes


Season the chicken with paprika and salt and let it marinating for 30 minutes.

Cut the marinated chicken in small cubes and cook it on a non-stick pan with 1 tsp. of olive oil. Using another pan, cook the the aubergine, garlic, courgette and the onion using the remaining tsp. of olive oil.

Layer the jar in the following order: chickpeas, cooked vegetables, radishes, chicken and the lettuce leaves. Protein Rich!

Vegetarian Salad


1 tsp. of olive oil

1 tsp. of lime juice

1 tsp. of grounded cashew nuts

Salt and pepper

1 tsp. of green beans

4 cherry tomatoes

1 mozzarella

½ thin sliced green apple

Sesame seeds

Rocket salad


Make a dressing by mixing olive oil, lime juice, cashew nuts, salt and pepper.

The dressing goes first in the jar, followed by beans, tomatoes, mozzarella, apple slices, sesame seeds and the rocket salad goes on top.
