Summer shred? My fat loss tips…

We all want to be lean and buff for the summer. We want to strut around in our Levi shorts at festivals with our best possible bodies on show! Summer is just around the corner… here are my top fat loss tips.
Most important tip: do not give up! You may not be able to make it to the gym some days, and some days you may go completely off the rails on your diet. That does not mean you have failed and it doesn’t mean to stop. Fit in your workouts when you can, don’t abandon them completely. A crappy workout is better than no workout at all, and even if you only do 10 minutes HIIT in your bedroom… it’s better than nothing.
Keep it clean. Sticking to nutritious foods that fuel your body and contain vitamins and minerals is essential. Eating lots of processed foods with artificial sweeteners are OK every now and then, but try keep it as minimal as possible. Keep eating your fruits and vegetables and your healthy balanced meals.
Play around with your fats and carbohydrates. You may want to try dropping carbs slightly and increasing your fats. This is ideal if you want a ‘mini cut’ for a holiday or event, but do not cut out carbohydrates completely and do not maintain this split for a long period of time… your body needs carbohydrates! When consuming fats stick to healthy fats and omega 3’s. Trans fats and saturated fats aren’t good for your body, unsaturated fats are a great source of fuel and will help you lean out (salmon, avocado, nuts etc). Keep protein high.
Drink water... Lots of it.
Make your workouts count. Add in cardio if you don’t already have it in your programme, and mix LIIS (Low intensity steady state) and HIIT (High intensity interval training). When doing weights, make sure you are absolutely killing your workouts, adding in as many advanced techniques as you can: drop sets, super sets, pyramids etc and shorten your rest periods!
